The choice of conveyor belt needs to consider various factors, mainly: the relevant requirements of the conveyor system for the conveyor belt; the terrain environmental conditions and safety requirements; the type, shape, granularity and characteristics of the transported materials, whether there is heat and chemistry Function; required maximum bandwidth, working tension and conveying capacity; minimum diameter of drum; groove and lateral stiffness; load support; length of curve section and transition section; tensioning method and stroke; receiving point and receiving condition, and conveyor belt Operating cycle; impact and tear resistance requirements; joint conditions; and should meet the following requirements:

For short-distance belt conveyors, polyester fabric core conveyor belts should be used. For belt conveyors with large conveying capacity, long transportation distance, high lifting height and large tension, steel cord conveyor belts should be used.

The material to be conveyed contains a large-sized block material, and when the direct drop of the material to be received is large, an impact-resistant and tear-proof conveyor should be selected.

The maximum number of layers of the layered fabric core conveyor belt should not exceed 6 layers: when the material to be conveyed has special requirements on the thickness of the conveyor belt, it can be appropriately increased. The downhole belt conveyor must use a flame retardant conveyor belt.

Cover layer selection

The choice of cover layer includes cover material, surface morphology and thickness.

The main components of the cover layer are various rubbers and plastics. Under most climatic conditions, the rubber can work normally under the condition that the inclination angle is not more than 18бу, and the inclination angle of the PVC tape under normal operation is below 12бу. PVC is not as good as rubber, but has good flame retardancy, unloading and cleaning properties. The performance of various rubbers is also very different. For example, natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber have good energy absorption and abrasion resistance; ethylene-propylene rubber is particularly heat-resistant; butadiene-based rubber has good oil resistance; butyl butyl rubber is heat-resistant. Resistance to oxidizing chemistry. Therefore, the choice of type of cover material must be considered in accordance with the type of material being transported, operating conditions and working environment.

The increase in the thickness of the cover layer is advantageous for improving the impact resistance and wear resistance of the conveyor belt. In particular, today's cotton canvas cores have been replaced by synthetic fiber fabric cores. The performance of the core has been greatly improved, and the thickness is relatively thin. In order to improve the overall performance of the conveyor belt, it is necessary to increase the thickness of the cover layer to fully exert its advantages and improve the service life of the conveyor belt. However, if the lower cover layer is too thick, the running resistance of the conveyor belt becomes large.

The thickness of the overlay is designed based on the wear rate, the material being fed, the heat resistance of the cover, the impact resistance, and the operating cycle of the belt. Table 1 is the value of the thickness of the usual cover layer.
